Daniel Franklin Lawless was born December 11, 1959 in San Jose, California. In his youth, Daniel became an accomplished piano player and often reminisced about playing for the “swing choir” in high school. Daniel attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society and Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Daniel received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He was a design engineer for various companies in the area ranging from the automotive industry to aerospace and defense. Daniel received many patents for his designs. It was at UAB that he met and married Susan Gorman Lawless, his wife of 28 years. They have three wonderful children together: Sarah Ann Lawless Canivez, Deborah Marie Lawless, and Thomas Daniel Lawless and their precious grandson, Waylon. Daniel died May 3, 2012 in a tragic car accident. He was loved. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Family Services Center of Huntsville.
