Bettie Jo Guza, 84, of Huntsville, AL, formerly of Texas, died peacefully at her home on February 9, 2017, with family and friends at her side. Bettie attended Davenport Secretarial Institute in Grand Rapids, MI.  While attending school, she worked part-time at a diner where she met her husband, Francis Guza, and they raised their three children in Huntsville, AL.

Bettie’s greatest joy was being a mother to her children; as well as temporary mom to 17 foster children, in the late 1960’s/early 1970’s.  She also worked at several restaurants, with her favorite being the late Terry’s Pizza for 12 years or more.  Bettie loved to knit, fish, garden, crochet, sew, and play piano in her earlier days.  She also loved her dogs, Lady 1 and Lady 2.

Bettie is predeceased by her second granddaughter, Lauren, and her younger brother and sister.

Bettie is survived by her 3 children; Linda, Thomas, and David; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and her older sister, Lee O’Grady of Spring Hill, MI.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Southern Care Hospice and Brother Steve for their tender care of our mother in her final days.

Services for Betty Guza will begin at Spry Funeral Home on Sunday, February 12th, with visitation starting at 11:00, and burial at 1:00, at the Hampton Cove Funeral Home on Highway 431, Huntsville, AL.
