Earnest T Willhite is most highly commended for his enthusiastic support and selfless contributions to the Monrovia Community.  Earnie served his country with honor and patriotism in SAC, Strategic Air Command, Forbes A.F.B., Topeka, Kansas during the Cold War.

In 1957, as a civilian employee of Philco Corp., he moved the family to Huntsville, Alabama where he earned a well-deserved reputation for high standards of professional conduct with the Ordnance Guided Missile School at Redstone Arsenal until his retirement in 1994.

His enthusiastic involvement as a Boy Scout leader, a member of the Ed White Middle School and Butler High School Boosters’ Clubs, and as a basketball coach is symbolic of his widespread interest in his children and in the community.

In 1990 he moved to the Monrovia Community where, with his unique combination of talent and knowledge, Mr. Willhite served as president of the Monrovia Optimist Club, restoring a fish pond and surrounding areas at the Monrovia Elementary School.

A charter member of the Monrovia Parks and Recreation Association, he was one of many who were instrumental in developing a Little League Baseball Park for families in NW Madison County, installing sprinkler systems, building a concession stand, and assisting with countless other daily projects.

Earnie was a member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church where he was a faithful and dedicated Deacon and Elder.  He is survived by his loving wife Irene, by children David, Patty, Stephen, Kenny and Jamie; and seven beautiful grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please honor Earnie by donating to Hospice, Huntsville Family Care.
