Mr. Edward “Jack” J. Cobb passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Athens Rehabilitation and Senior Care, Athens, Alabama after a lengthy battle with Parkinson.

Born in Rome, New York to Ethel Josephine Heckert and Edward Charles Cobb.  He grew up in the Mohawk Valley and Adirondeck Mountains.  He was a Korean Veteran and graduated from Syracuse University with the help of his mom and the GI Bill.  He was an exceptional, inspiring and caring Mathematics teacher for 27 years.  He taught Jr. High in Long Valley, New Jersey and High School at West Morris Central and Mt Olive High School, Bud Lake, New Jersey.  He was a long time resident of Hampton, New Jersey.  He Co-owned “Cobb’s Emporium with his wife.  He built the store with his sons, his students and himself in 1980.  He retired to Madison, Alabama with his beloved wife in September of 1993.  In 1994, he opened “Young at Heart”, a doll and collectors shop.  He was a Member of the Madison Civitan Club and for several years worked to enrich the lives of the mentally and physically challenged.  He was a constituent member of West Huntsville United Methodist Church and helped to build and stock their food pantry.

“Jack” is survived by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Lue Bostwick Cobb, a retired United Methodist Clergy and their five sons and wives; Shawn James Cobb and wife Sheri of Joppa, Md., Daryl Kevin Cobb and wife Joanne of Asbury, NJ, Bryan Colin Cobb, Colin Timothy Cobb and wife Michelle of Pairieville, La. and Erin Lynn Cobb and wife Kathleen of S. Dartmouth, Ma.

They have fifteen grandchildren: Christina E. Woodall, Darlene M. Williams, Matthew K. Cobb, Josey Howard, William Hernden, Amber M. Pineau, Heather A. Cobb, Benjamin T. Cobb, Rebecca C. Lawrence, Colin T. Cobb, Jr., Nicholas C. Cobb, Cameron D. Cobb, Kayley C. Cobb, Tabitha G. Cobb, and Maxwell A. Cobb.  They have ten great-grandchildren: Zachery and Abigail Woodall, Anthony and Alannah Williams, Leland Cobb, C J and Alyssa Pineau, Dillon and Olivia Howard and Alena McLane.  He is survived by his cousin, Dorothy McMasters and nieces, Laura Rudman and Debra Gilmore.

A Memorial Service will be held at West Huntsville United Methodist Church, 3104 9th Avenue SW, Huntsville, Alabama February 28 at 2pm.  Pastor Carol Gullatt will officiate.  Edward J. Cobb will be interred at Bushnell National Cemetary.
