Mr. Malcolm Wayne "Slim" Miller, age 90, passed away Saturday, at a local nursing home.  Mr. Miller was born and raised in the Ryland community of Madison County. He joined the Navy during WWII at the age of 17 and retired from the US Postal Service as a Rural Carrier. He was also a barber in the Huntsville area for many years and wrote for the Old Huntsville Magazine for 20 years. He was a songwriter and had several songs published. His main love was music.

He is survived by his loving wife, of 17 years, Lois Miller of Harvest; daughter, Marie Bittle of Ryland; Two sons Tommy Miller, and wife Lisa, of Toney and Doug Miller, and wife Susan, of Ryland; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Monday from Noon until 2:00pm. The funeral will follow at 2:00pm in Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Miller officiating.  Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Charitable donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
