Rebecca Hall Young, 88, of Meridianville, Alabama was born February 21, 1929 in Lincoln County, Tennessee to Floyd and Mary Hall of Dellrose, Tennessee. She left this earth on September 16, 2017.

She is survived by four daughters Brenda Eppele (Page) of North Carolina, Sandra Smith of Hazel Green, Jane Buford (Robyn) of Meridianville, Shirley Pressnell (Ronnie) of Meridianville; one son David Young (Cassie) of Hazel Green; 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, four brothers; and three sisters.

Rebecca is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Willard Young; one son Arnie Young; her parents; and three brothers; and sisters.

Throughout the course of her life, she loved to stay active. In her youth, she played basketball. After she married, her family began to grow and she was active in her children’s lives. She was a Sunday school teacher, member of the PTA, and made countless numbers of cheerleading outfits, prom dresses, and wedding dresses.

Meme, as she was affectionately known by everyone, was always actively helping her husband in his endeavors. She was an avid farm aid and gardener. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was a seamstress, loved to cut grass, and was an avid cook. She was known throughout the community for not only her love of cooking, but her ability to be able to cook anything asked of her. She was the most famous for her peanut butter brittle and popcorn balls.

Meme loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She loved to babysit them and would refer to it as them having a party.

Arrangements have bee entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, Alabama. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A chapel service will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 11:00am at Spry Funeral Home with interment to follow at Pisgah Cemetery in Giles County, TN.
