I remember Sam very well. I grew up in the Guntersville Branch/Ward and he was our High Council representative from the stake. He was an excellent person and we all loved him dearly. I had not seen for probably 30 or 40 years, mainly because I left Alabama many years ago now.

Please accept my sincere condolences during this time of grief. My hope is that the words of Christ Jesus be of comfort, when he stated that "the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out" (John 5: 28, 29). We can also take comfort in God's personal promise to "wipe out every tear" and that soon, even "death will be no more" (Revelation 21: 4).

Thank you Mr Spry, may you RIP! I appreciate you handling of so many of my relatives especially when my first husband Rodney R Thompson, Sgt. (1970) came home deceased from military. As well, as all of the rest...

I am truly sorry to hear of the loss of Brother Spry. I will never forget how gracious and kind he was to me when my Mom passed away. I had no family with me to go through making the arrangements for her to be taken care of. He made a complicated situation be easy for me to go through. I truly felt his Christlike love and service.

Sad to see this though he will be with his beloved wife. What a wonderful man. He helped our son purchase a pair of shoes for his mission to Russia. Said the proper shoes are important. He has served our family and friends for many years and will be missed.

My condolences to the family of Samuel Spry Jr. I worked for Mr. Spry Sr. in the old funeral home in Florence & Sheffield. I often visited the Rogersville Insurance Office. I lived in Huntsville and attended UAH and worked for Fritz Horst Flowers some years ago. I was at Jefferson State also. My relatives from Huntsville, Jessie W. Stutts and Louise Stutts were friends of Mr. Spry. The Spry family was the inspiration for me owning Acadian Funeral Home of New Iberia, LA today. I miss the past frequent visits to the funeral home to see Mr. Spry and miss the association with his brothers and father.

We have been blessed knowing Brother Spry since 1962 (32years). We are somewhat numbed at his passing yet realize that he, leaving mortality, is now further along in his eternal journey than we, those he leaves behind. "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor the mind concieved those things the Lord has in store for those that love Him and keep his commandments." Brother Spry assuredly will experience that wonderful promise now.
