Kenneth E. Bolen

Kenneth Earl Bolen, loving husband and father, passed away on Wednesday May 6, 2015 after a long battle with dementia/Alzheimer's. The only son of Savell and Jessie Mae (Jordan) Bolen, he was predeceased by his parents and his only sister, Dell Bolen McLendon. He is survived by his wife, Wanda and his children Ouida McQuerns and her husband Lee; Diann Adams and her husband Greg; and Ron Bolen and his wife Traci. He also leaves six grandchildren, Cara, Courtney, Erica, Jessica, Meredith and Jade and one great grandson, Duncan.

Ken was born in Flatwood, AL and attended the University of Alabama receiving a degree in Chemical Engineering. Following graduation, Ken was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company and held various positions within the company for 38 years. His final position was project engineer overseeing the construction of several facilities owned by Phillips Petroleum Company.

A dedicated member of his church, Ken served regularly in multiple capacities at The First Baptist Church of Bartlesville, OK. One of his greatest legacies there was his oversight of the construction of the church's Family Life Center, a health and wellness facility which stands today as a service to the entire community.

Ken was always known as a man with an agile mind, a quick wit and a giving heart. He was constantly doing for others. His passion for humor was only surpassed by his love of woodworking a hobby in which he showed amazing prowess including the design and construction of hundreds of pieces of furniture.

Most will remember Ken as a man of great integrity, a trait that he displayed in many ways. From his personal life to his professional life, Ken's choices were always based in faith and honesty.

Ken was known as possessing a tremendous sense of humor and there are few that will forget his telling and retelling of stories and jokes that would leave a room in stitches. Very few would leave his presence without a smile on their face.

Services will be held at the Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL on Saturday May 16, 2015 at 2:00. Visitation will be held at that location from 12:00 until the beginning of the service. In addition, a Memorial Service will be held in Bartlesville, OK with date and time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a monetary donation to either the Alzheimer's Association of America or the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City.
