Linnie Jean Parrott McMillan, born in Detroit, Michigan on June 2, 1940. Passed away on June 26, 2015 in Madison, Alabama. Preceded in death by father and mother Carson Kit Parrott and Theresa Betty (Magnish) Parrott of Detroit, Michigan; daughter, Tabitha Kaye McMillan. Survived by daughter and son-in-law, Theresa and Troy Wesson of Madison, Alabama, and granddaughter, Caitlin Adaline Wesson of Madison, Alabama. Sister, Barbara Ann Parrott Lane of Margate, Florida. Nephew and wife, Keith and Cindy Lane of Coconut Creek, Florida. Great-niece Savanna Lane of Coconut Creek, Florida, and great-nephew Jordan Ryan. Also survived by very special cousins in Michigan; Evelyn Lee, Roy and Diane Parrott, and Clyde and Fran Parrott. Survived by very special cousins in Tennessee; Philena Blankenship, Mildred Arney, John Louis and Judy Jouett, Greta Faye Witcher, Yolanda Carr, Gene and Mary Lou Parrott, Ann Smith, Edward Parrott, Keith and Tootie Parrott, Sue Ella Ford, Shirley Parrott and Claudell Parrott.

Graduated from East Detroit High School in 1958. Graduated from Tennessee Technological University in 1962 with a BA in English. While at Tech she was president of the Tech Women's Organization and was elected Miss Tennessee Tech. Received her Master's in Educational Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University in 1989. Retired after forty years in teaching; thirty-seven of these years were at Fulton High School in Knoxville, Tennessee. During her teaching career she received numerous awards and recognition for teaching excellence. She was elected Knox County Teacher of the Year in 2001. The year 2000 was the most outstanding year of her life when her granddaughter was born and she was inducted into the State of Tennessee's Teacher Hall of Fame. From 2002 to 2005 she worked as supervisor of student interns for the University of Tennessee College of Education. As an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, she was a recipient of the Order of the Rose in 2005. Member of Knoxville Leadership Education class of 1993-94. She loved the old mountain saying: "The tall woman casts a long shadow." She hoped her shadow was one of love and kindness.

The service will be on Thursday, July 2 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (Lower Level via the Capshaw Road entrance), 1418 Old Railroad Bed Road, Madison, AL. The family will receive friends from 2pm to 4pm Central Time. Service at 4pm with a small reception afterwards. Preachers: Rev. David Tubbs and Revs. Michael and Suzanne Katschke. Her urn will be interred at the Parrott Family Plot at the Wirmingham Cemetery in Monroe (Overton County), Tennessee at a family ceremony at a later date.
