Subhendra Nath Sil

Subhendra Nath Sil, 83, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on April 4, 2024. Subhendra was born on April 4, 1941 to Surendra Nath and Basanti Sil in Hili, West Bengal, India. After Subhendra graduated from Ramanath High School in Hili, West Bengal, he went on to study civil engineering at Jadavpur University. After graduating with a Master’s degree in Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology, he led a successful career as a professional civil engineer for over 40 years.

In 1974, Subhendra married Papiya Bhattacharjee and went on to have 2 children, Sramana and Soumitri. He gained a son-in-law when Sramana married Kuldeep Sharma in 2005, as well as a granddaughter, Sarina, in 2010.

In 2006, Subhendra retired and spent his time fishing, reading, playing bridge with his friends, listening to music and vinyl records, photography, and traveling with his family.

Subhendra was predeceased by parents, Surendra and Basanti Sil, and sibling Montu Nath Sil. He is survived by Papiya Sil, Sramana Sil Sharma, Soumitri Sil, Kuldeep Sharma, Sarina Sharma, and his siblings Soumendra, Suva, Samindra and Soma, Samarendra, Shyamali, and Srabani and Bivas.

Services will be held at Spry Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 8:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
