Barbara “Anne” Ahlander

Anne passed away on January 18,2018 at the age of 80 in Louis­ville, KY. She is predeceased by her mother, Ruth Patterson; step­father, Jack Patterson and her brother, Bill Edens.

She is survived by her loving husband Dan of 61 years. They were married in Dugway, UT on August 17,1956.

Mrs. Ahlander is lovingly remembered by her children; son - Mi­chael Ahlander from Hazel Green, AL; daughters, Lorie Maenza from Birmingham, AL; Shelly Anderson from Prospect, KY and her sister Carol Edens from Ashville, NC. She has been blessed with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was born in Arcadia, LA in 1937. She graduated from Dugway High School; Dugway, UT in 1955 and went on to earn a Masters Degree from Florida Institute of Technology in 1985. She worked as a Contract Manager for United Space Booster Inc, in Huntsville and retired with NASA at Marshall Space Flight Center on Red­stone Arsenal.

Anne enjoyed music, playing the piano, reading and spending time with family and friends, especially at Trails End the log home she and Dan built in Toney, AL. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL where she worked in the music department, sang in the choir and was involved with the children's ministry and special needs Sunday School.

A remembrance of her life will be held at Spry Funeral Home on N. Memorial Parkway in Huntsville, AL on February 10,2018 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm.
