Betty Faye Sims Stephenson passed away July 5, 2018. Betty was born January 9, 1929 to Oscar Levi and Pearl Rodgers Sims. She grew up in Cullman County but had been a resident of Madison County for about 60 years. Betty was an elementary school teacher. Her career spanned 30 years. she taught in Cullman County and Huntsville City Schools. After retiring from education, she and her husband of almost 50 years, Malcolm Stephenson, opened the Betty-Mac Flower and Gift Shop. They retired for a second time ten years later. Betty was a kind, thoughtful, independent, caring Christian lady. She loved her family and church family, University Baptist Church. Betty and Malcolm Stephenson were founding members of University Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and worked in the church library for many years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her older sister, Peggy Sims Filyaw; her younger brother, Rodger Sims; and her nephew, Charles Filyaw.
Left to cherish her memory are nieces, Cathy Wallace (Keith), Beverly Winningham (Chris), and nephew, Jason Sims. She also leaves behind five great-nephews and two great-nieces.
Pallbearers are Keith Wallace, Chris Winningham, Jason Sims, Chris Wallace, Jon Bendickson and Matthew Mabry.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church she loved so much, University Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with services following at University Baptist Church. Burial will be held afterwords in Huntsville Memory Gardens.
