Carolyn W. Hinkle, age 81 of Huntsville, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2019. She was ill with pneumonia and dementia. Carolyn was born in Decatur, AL in 1937 to James Elbert and Katherine Kitchens. She was a sentimental and thoughtful wife and mother, married to Johnny Hinkle for over 60 years.
Mama Hink loved fun, she loved people, and she loved her family, friends and neighbors. She loved the friends of her kids too, supportive of those relationships. She was curious and artfully taught others what she learned about the world.
A collector of memories, friends, gravy boats and knowledge, Mrs. Hinkle is survived by her husband Johnny Hinkle and her three children: James Hinkle (Sherri), Holly Hinkle, and Noel Godwin (Rusty); grandchildren: Clay Esterling (Jacqueline), Dylan Esterling, Logan Esterling; great-grandchildren: Lucas and Lily Esterling, sister Nancy Paulson (Steve), nieces Elaine Paulson, Olivia Hargis (Paul), and nephew David Paulson (Christine).
There will be a “Remembering Carolyn” ceremony at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 3921 Broadmor Road N. W., Huntsville, AL 35810, on Saturday, April 6th at 1:00 pm. Please share your special memories of Carolyn on the tribute wall tab above.
