On Saturday, January 19, 2019, Charles Larry Craig, loving husband and father of three children, passed away peacefully at age 81. Larry was born on July 15, 1937 in Huntsville, AL to Elmer and Jewel (Mitchell) Craig. On October 23, 1969, he married Doris Martinez. They raised a son, John, and two daughters, Michelle and Jennifer.
From a young age, Larry loved watching motion pictures at the local movie theater while his mother worked in a jewelry store in downtown Huntsville. His love for science fiction movies would fuel his desire to become an astronaut one day. And although he never traveled to the moon, he would work at NASA among other programs during his career. Larry was a software engineer who enjoyed developing encryptions.
In adulthood, Larry still loved attending movies, which he excitedly took his wife and children to. He had a passion for books, playing cards, and chess. He enjoyed spending his past time writing poems, novels, and screen plays. Larry was always eager to go out to eat dinner or lunch with those he loved. His kind smile, and his selfless spirit, made him a friend to many.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Elmer, and his mother, Jewel. He is survived by his wife Doris, his three children, John, Michelle, and Jennifer, his grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Tyler, Savannah, Mia, and Jasmine, his sister Heidi, and several cousins.
With all the family members and many friends that Larry had, his wish was to have a very private, quiet and humble funeral.
