Fred Stanley McCreless

Fred was born on September 27, 1933 on Sand Mountain in Etowah County, Alabama.  At age 5, his family moved to Boaz and then to Attalla, AL a couple of years later where he spent his growing up years.  Fred attended Etowah High School and graduated in May 1953.  He married Shirley Johnson on September 10, 1955 and the couple moved to Huntsville a few years later.

Fred served in the U.S. Navy, attended Jacksonville State College and the University of Alabama, Huntsville.  Fred began work at Boeing in June 1965 during the Saturn 5 Program.  At the end of the program, he worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.  He returned to Boeing in 1985, retired in 1999 but did contract work for Boeing until Jan 2005.

Fred is predeceased by Father, Fred B McCreless 3/13/1973, and Mother, Jessie Florence McCreless 6/5/1983.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley D Johnson McCreless, of Meridianville, AL; Daughter Connie D McCreless Earley of Hazel Green, AL; Daughter Melinda K McCreless Scott of Arvada, CO; Son Michael B McCreless of Huntsville, AL.  He is also survived by his wonderful and much loved grandsons:  Blake F Earley of Washington DC, Craig O Earley (wife Alicia) of Germantown, TN, Michael W McCreless of Tuscaloosa, AL, Nathan T Scott and Chauncey D (Chance) Scott of Arvada, CO.

Visitation will be held at The First Baptist Church of Meridianville from noon to 2:00 pm on Friday, May 11th, followed by the Service at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Mission Firefly organization at the First Baptist Church of Meridianville.
