Gertrude Anna Schubert

Gertrude "Trudy" Anna Schubert, age 90 of Warrior, died Tuesday. 

She was preceded in death by her companion of 35 years, John Martinus. Trudy grew up in Germany.  She  met her husband, Ted,  a Master Sergeant in the Army while he was stationed there and they married in 1949.  Ted and Trudy traveled extensively before settling with their 3 children in Huntsville in 1962.  Trudy most enjoyed making a beautiful home for her family and she never knew a stranger.  Trudy's other hobbies included cooking, fishing, stamp collecting, embroidery and gardening.   After Ted's untimely death, John was her constant companion and soul mate.  John proceeded Trudy in death in 2010 so Trudy subsequently made her home in Warrior, AL with her daughter, Peggy. Her giving nature made her memorable to all who met her.

Survivors include her son, Michael Schubert and wife Joy; her daughters, Peggy Woods; Barbara Goodrich and husband Darin; her grandchildren, Jennifer Merrill and husband Jason; Gregory Woods and wife Melissa; Gabe Higgins and wife Shannon; Garrett Higgins and wife Amber; and 10 great-grandchildren. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville where the family will receive friends Friday 12 to 1:00pm.  A graveside service will be Friday 1:30pm at Maple Hill Cemetery.
