Joan Elizabeth (Schrift) Salamon, 79, of Toney died peacefully at home Thursday, May 17, 2018 surrounded by family. Joan, a native of New Germany, Pennsylvania, had lived in Madison County for the past 60 years. Joan was a member of Our Lady, Help of Christians Catholic Church in Huntsville.

Survivors include four children; son James Salamon Jr. of The Colony, Texas, daughter Kathy Burrow of Lacey’s Spring, daughter Debby Wetterau of Dickson, Tennessee, and son Ted Salamon of Toney; 3 siblings; sister Louella Penrod of Ohio, brother John Schrift of Ohio, and sister Grace Christina of Pennsylvania; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband James Salamon Sr., son Wayne Salamon, parents Augustine and Marion Schrift, and several brothers and sisters.

In accordance with Joan’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, Joan wished donations be made to Hospice Care Huntsville, who were very helpful to Joan and her family during the past few weeks.
