Joyce Boyd Cowley, a native of Huntsville, Alabama passed away February 20, 2019. Joyce had recently relocated to Montgomery, Alabama, where she passed at the age of 88 of natural causes. She was born on April 14, 1930 in Huntsville to Robert and Dixie (King) Boyd.
Joyce was a former member of Lakewood Baptist Church where she was active in WMU, Sunday School and a VBS teacher. She attended Oak Park Baptist for the past 8 years before moving to Montgomery.
Joyce was married to Dale Hall Cowley in July of 1952. They were married for almost 58 years until Dale’s death. Being a military family, they spent many years between Huntsville and Germany. Joyce was a devoted wife, devout Christian mother, and a proud grandmother.
Joyce is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband, two sisters and three brothers. Joyce is survived by three children: Patricia (Gary) Conner of Tennessee, Janice (Van) Nunnelly of Montgomery and Tim (Suzanne) Cowley of Kodiak, Alaska, six grandchildren: Chris (Jessica) and Ryan Campaine, Ben and Johnathan (Shay) Nunnelly , Krista and Austin Cowley. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Courtney and McKenzie Campaine, Levi Hunter and Neveah, Elijah, Paisley, and Skylar Nunnelly.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, Alabama. The family will receive friends Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:30 pm at Maple Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Alan Crawford officiating. Pallbearers will be Joyce’s grandsons and great-grandson. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Disabled Veterans.
