Justine M Shrider, 78, of Huntsville Alabama, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2:00pm surrounded by her Domestic Partner, Pama Lyons, sons, Kenneth Shrider, Daniel Shrider, daughter in laws, Adrian Shrider and Nicole Shrider. Justine was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was a Madison County retired school teacher. She has seven grandchildren and one great grandson.

The chorus lost a Founding Mother recently. Justine Shrider, in partnership with Sherry Mercieca, convened the chorus in 1993; and Justine served as Librarian, Business Manager, trusty second soprano and percussionist, until she retired a few years after Sherry’s death. Together, they gave us such a firm foundation that today we still flourish when few other women’s choruses have survived. She left a wonderful legacy of love and dedication to the community, including this inspirational poem:
 

Sometimes we come to a crossroad...
a place where we know we can make a change.
We may think, because of our previous accomplishments,
that we are already on the right road.
We may be tempted to stay where we are...
to keep on as we have been--
repeating our accomplishments.
Or what we have built in the past
can be viewed as a launching pad to future journeys
whose destination is unsure.
When we are standing at a crossroad,
we can take strength and wisdom
from the goodness of our present life
and consider how best to share our gifts for the good of all...
Will it be the same route...
or will it be a different
and more challenging one?
