Mrs. Opal Beatrice (Scott) Rice, age 88, of Huntsville, passed away Thursday at a local nursing home.  A native of Marshall County, she was born to Othar and Vollie Scott and has resided in Huntsville for more than 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ervice Rice and two brother, Collis Scott and Edward Scott.

Opal  is survived by her son, Carsten A. Rice, of Huntsville; daughter, Carrie L. Rice, of Huntsville; two sisters, Elizabeth Fortner, and husband Morgan, and Julie Scott both of Trenton, GA; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 until 8:00pm.  Funeral service will be Sunday at 1:30pm in Spry Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dale Cantrell and Bro. Lee Lawson officiating.  Interment will follow at Hampton Cove Cemetery in Owens Cross Roads.
