Phyllis Underwood Cox passed away May 9 after a long struggle with multiple health issues. She was sustained through these struggles by strong faith, determination, and a sense of humor. She showed love for everyone she met and always kept her heart open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Despite our sadness we are grateful that she is no longer in pain and look forward to being reunited in the resurrection.
Phyllis was born in Knoxville, TN to a close and loving family, where she learned generosity and the value hard work and instilled these values in her children.
She is survived by her husband Mark; three children Jennifer, Robbie, and Kenny; three grandchildren Alexandria, Kyle, and Maddox; and one great granddaughter Ella.
She graduated from the University of Tennessee and worked as an engineer at Marshall Space Flight Center.
She enjoyed staying physically active including scuba diving, skiing, and swimming and remained as active possible despite her health issues.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the many caring nurses and doctors who assisted with her care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Sunday, May 12th, 2019, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm. She will lie-in-state, Monday, May 13th, 2019, from 10:00 until 11:15 am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Byrd Spring Road. Funeral Service will follow at 11:30 am with Bishop Jeffrey Cazier conducting. Interment will be at Centerville City Cemetery in Centerville, UT on Monday, May 20th, 2019 with Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary handling.
