Richard Dale Lewis

Mr. Richard Dale Lewis, age 69, of Huntsville, passed away peacefully at home on July 11, 2019.  A native of Huntsville, Mr. Lewis lived in Cullman County for many years while traveling to work at Redstone Arsenal.  

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lois Raney; his brother, Alton (Buddy) Lewis; his fiancee, Melinda Newell; extended family, and friends.

Richard served in the US Air Force before attending seminary and becoming a Baptist minister. He was a psychologist who helped many people overcome alcohol abuse, drug addition and other mental health issues, in addition to leading others to the Lord.

He was an avid fisherman and a devoted Alabama fan. After retiring from his position as Program Manager for the Army Substance Abuse Program for Redstone Arsenal, Richard enjoyed his home on Smith Lake where he enjoyed happy times with Melinda and his many "good" neighbors.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville, where the family will receive friends Tuesday, July 16th 2019, from 11:00am until 1:00pm.  Funeral service will follow in Spry Funeral Home's Chapel at 1:00pm with Dr. Robert A. White officiating.  Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
