Mrs. Ruby Lillian Hawkins, 100 years old, of Huntsville, AL passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019. She was originally from Birmingham and moved to Huntsville in 1952. Mrs. Hawkins is proceeded in death by her parents Ed and Ruby Franklin. Daughters Geri Karr and Peggy Searcy. Survived by daughter Charlotte Sanders, grandson Michael (Susan) Anderson, Mark (Laura) Anderson, Tim (Laura) Searcy, granddaughters Janice (David) Plasterer and Lili Ann Searcy Glover (David), 11 great grandchildren and 1 niece and 5 nephews.
She worked for the US Government for 50 years. Mrs. Hawkins belonged to many organizations. She was President of Huntsville Emblem Club, President of Huntsville Hospital Auxiliary, President of Elks Ladies Auxiliary, and the President of Alabama State Association of Emblem Club. She was a member of Huntsville Botanical Gardens, Eagle Auxiliary, Emblem Club State Association, and Red Hats. Mrs. Hawkins was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served as Parish Council, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and worked with Children’s Liturgy. She also helped with Children’s Activities and worked in Parish Office for several years. Visitation will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church on December 27, 2019 from 9:00 until 11:00am and a Mass will be held at 11:00am at the church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham, AL.
