W.H. (Bill) Milligan born Sept. 7,1930 Drummonds, TN died peacefully Nov.29,2017 in Huntsville, Al. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, sons, John (Kathy) Milligan and Steve (Carmen) Milligan, grandchildren Rebecca, Evan and Victoria Milligan, sisters, Polly (Bill) Cronin and Joyce Rutledge, multiple nieces and nephews and extended family members Cheryl Hart (Tyler and Makayla Rohlff, Carter Hatfield), Phillip (Amanda) Alexis and Cooper Elrod, Tracy Johnson and Jessica Creel and Maria, Gloria and Isabella Jackson. He was predeceased by his parents, Jesse and Susie Milligan, brothers, Vernon and Jasper Milligan and sisters, Vera Knight and Mary Sue Poston.

Bill graduated summa cum laude from Munford High School, TN. He initially attended UT Martin where he played football and ultimately graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a lifelong fan of the Volunteers till the end and would often be seen wearing his orange and white Tennessee shirts. He is an Air Force Veteran serving as a flight instructor for the B36. He started his career with Hughes Aircraft and stayed with this company for 43 years throughout several buy outs and mergers. He was a key member of the TOW Missile Program at Redstone Arsenal. He was a member of Lakewood United Methodist Church.

Bill was a devoted father and enjoyed time with his sons coaching little league, fishing and doing what he could to encourage and teach his sons the importance of hard work. He enjoyed flying and spent many hours in the air. He enjoyed staying close to home in his retirement and was capable of fixing anything. He supported the J.O. Johnson class of '78 with his talents at stage building for the Senior Escapades and building an R2D2 replica. He was a highly intelligent person and he once said to his nephew "the more I learn the more I find out I don't know." He was a lifelong learner and enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his loving dog, Abby, who always brightened his life.

The family wishes to give special thanks to the care provided by the staff at Regency Nursing Home, 3rd floor staff of Crestwood Hospital and Dr. Zaheer Khan and his staff. The quality of Bill's life was especially heightened by the love, care and companionship provided by Tanya Tverberg, Steve Russell, Brenda Griffin and Angela Williams. All of you helped to preserve his dignity and treated him with compassion.

Visitation will be held at Spry Funeral Home on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 11:00am until 12:00pm with services following the visitation at 12:00pm with Rev. Kim Teehan and Rev. Jerry Reeder officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in memory of Bill Milligan to: Parkinson's Support Group P.O. Box 18721 Huntsville, AL 35804.
