Alice Meade of Huntsville, passed peacefully on July 5, 2024 at age 98. Born April 26, 1926 in Bronx, New York to Louis Walter Kennell and Alice Marguerite (Coyne) Kennell, Alice grew up in New York City and began her career at NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza. In 1965, Alice married William Meade, of New York City, and together they had one son, Michael. After raising their son, Alice reentered the workforce, accepting a position with American Airlines and relocated to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon her retirement, Alice moved to Florida where she resided for many years, until age 92, when she moved to Huntsville to live with her family. Alice was a lifelong blood donor, an active member of her church, and sang in the church choir. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Alice steadfastly maintained a positive outlook on life and had a joyful sense of humor.
She is survived by her son, Michael, his wife Anna (Boirun) and two grandsons, Michael and Alex. Throughout her life, Alice was a blessing to her family which included five nephews, three nieces, three cousins, their families, and many dear friends. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband William (Bill) Meade, her sister, Virginia (Kennell) Halliday, and nephew William Halliday Jr.
Alice will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Autism Speaks in memory of Alice Meade.
A service will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Huntsville, AL on Thursday, August 8th, 2024 with Visitation starting at 10:30am and Funeral Mass following at 11:00am.
