Allen Eugene Davis was born in New Albany Mississippi on August 16, 1936 to William Eugene Davis and Lillian Gafford Davis. He was the first of three children. His siblings Charles and Gladys Davis were born years later. He departed this life for life eternal on March 30, 2025. Allen was an ardent Christian and was a member of Faith Chapel for many years. He joined shortly after Joel McGraw founded the church. Allen married BonJean Browning Davis in 1955 and they were in love for more than 59 years. They raised 3 children Edward Eugene Davis, Cathy Ann Davis and Sherrie Lynne Davis. They were grandparents to James Allen Baker, Randy Gene Baker and Melissa Lindsay Giovanetti Burroughs and Great Grandparents to Whitney Nicol Baker, Allen James Baker, Courtney Nicole Baker, Brandon Lee Jackson, Brooke Taylor Baker, Liam Burroughs, and Great - Great Grandparent to Ava Grace Jackson.
Allen began his career in the Army in 1955 as a Radar Repair Man in Signal Corp School. After his Army career he moved to Huntsville, Alabama where he gained employment on Redstone Arsenal for Army Missile Command where he would later retire from. After retirement he took his grandsons, wife and son on a cross country trip that lasted 3 months. They started driving west and went thru Texas, Mexico, California and north to Oregon before turning east and heading back home. Upon returning home he began working again for ARI, SAIC and UAH as an engineer. Allen enjoyed working and helping others fix problems. It should be noted that he was a hard worker and never quit to the end and he excelled in excellence in everything he did. As well, he helped many veterans with a path forward to find additional benefits. It should be said that he was just a little boy from New Albany Mississippi and ended his career working on research that would enable rapid deep space travel to Mars and beyond.
Funeral services for Allen will be on Friday, April 4th from 12:00pm - 02:00pm at Spry Funeral Home. Private burial will be held after at Maple Hill Cemetery
