Arthur Anderson Jr. Obituary

Arthur D. Anderson, Jr., age 81, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on September 15, 2025

Survived by nine children, Thomas Anderson, Edward (Amy) Anderson, Jennifer Collins, Timothy Anderson, John Anderson, Marie Anderson, Christopher Anderson, Daniel Anderson, and Annalee Anderson; and four grandchildren, Christopher Collins, Sophie Anderson, Jacob Anderson, and Nicholas Anderson.

Preceded in death by wife/spouse Lagene (Thunell ) Anderson, daughter Deborah Anderson and parents Arthur D. Anderson, Sr. and Mildred Anderson

Born in Savannah, GA. With a military father, he moved around quite a bit and landed in Pensacola Florida where his family spent many years growing up. He attended college in Arizona prior to transferring to Brigham Young University where he earned a Bachelors degree in Statistics and where he met Lagene, his eternal soulmate and companion. They were married 54 years on this earth prior to her death, married in Salt Lake City Temple, marrying just after his college graduation . Art has remained an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints ever since, and served faithfully in many callings. He attended BYU prior to joining the church during his studies. Art enjoyed attending and serving in the temple.

Art’s initial years of his career took his family to Seattle, Virginia, Atlanta, then ultimately settling in Huntsville Alabama, primarily working in the aerospace industry and retiring from Northrop Grumman (formerly TRW) where he had worked for many years.

Art was a wonderful husband and father, with many interests. He was extremely dedicated to his family, both immediate and extended. Art worked in family research and genealogy extensively for over 40 years, including writing and publishing a few personal history books with his research. These books were important milestones and accomplishments for him after working on them for many years.

After church, family, and genealogy, Art’s biggest love was no doubt baseball. Of course, playing basketball still coming in right behind as a close second. In addition to playing baseball throughout many years, including many stints as a Little League coach and weekly games in the front yard(with 10 children even had his own team...) , Art was an avid baseball card collector and enjoyed sharing this venture with many of his children over the years.

Met by many obstacles and challenges of raising a large family, Art continued to endure to the very end and was selfless in many ways and touched many lives in his time on this earth and will be missed dearly.
