We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Spry Funeral Home & Crematory
After 96 years of fascinating and often turbulent years, Asta von Tiesenhausen, née Esch, passed away in her sleep in the early hours of 1 August. Asta was born and raised in Hamburg/Altona, Germany to Elisabeth Esch, née Roters and Hamburg District Judge, Ferdinand Esch, JD on 4 February 1926. There she met her husband, the late Georg von Tiesenhausen. During World War II, she worked briefly in Peenemünde as a mathematician, while her husband was also stationed there to work on the rocket program. After emigrating from Germany to the United States in 1953, she dedicated herself to her children and to her husband, to whom she was married for 75 years. She counseled at the Help Line for 35 years.
Cherishing her memory are her three children, Evamaria Belt (Merwyn), Georg von Tiesenhausen, Jr. (Ardelle M.), and Jutta von Tiesenhausen (Leroy Hush); 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
