Aurora Lux Obituary

Aurora Teresa (Cortes) Lux, of Madison, Alabama, passed away on December 15, 2025 at the beautiful age of 93. She was born of Spanish immigrant parents in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. After living many years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Valparaiso, Indiana, she moved with her husband, Charley, and children to Birmingham, Alabama in the 1970’s.

Teresa, affectionately known as Moe, was a loving sister of 7 siblings, wife , mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She was a kind and loving soul whose wonderful presence brightened our lives.

Throughout her life, Moe was known for her quick wit, cheerful smile, crossword level vocabulary skills and good humor. Her love of family and strong connection to her Catholic faith served as the  foundation for her vibrant life.

Moe’s  faith lead her to serve the Catholic Church as a parish secretary until her retirement. Even after retirement she could be found counting donations, volunteering her time, and altering church vestments. A master seamstress, she was always ready to stitch the latest design when the request was made; just as long as it fit into her very busy golf and travel schedule.

Moe will be missed by all those who held her close to their heart and her light will continue to shine through the spirit of her children: Joseph (Christy), Anne, Matthew (Teresa) and Teri. The memory of Moe will live on through her grandchildren: Charles (Marie Celeste), Benjamin (Allison), Andrew, David, Jack and Alexander as well as through the joy of her great grandchild Maxine Therese’ and in the loving heart of her only surviving sibling, Isabel Sadosky.

A visitation at Good Shepherd Catholic Church will occur on December 23rd at 1pm with a Catholic service at 2pm and interment to follow at the church’s columbarium. A private family gathering will follow.

The family would like to thank The Neighborhood at Madison where Moe lived and delighted in the many activities and friendships she made. Lynn, Brandi, Tasha, Schurrill, Kay, Acie, Danica, Melinda, Mary Beth, Hanna, Kay, Robbie, Mel, Laura, Stacy and the entire staff who created an extraordinary and caring environment in which our Mom thrived; they are truly appreciated. The family would like to also thank Southern Care New Beacon Hospice and Mom’s  loving nurse Courtney for the care provided in her final days.

Memorial donations can be made to Catholic Charities at the following: www.catholiccharitiesbhm.org
