Barbara Loveday Strong, age 87, left us to join her husband and family in heaven this Monday, December 16, 2024. She lived a long, full life, and passed surrounded by family.
Barbara was born in Huntsville Hospital to Sam and Ruby Loveday and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. She was born on January 1, 1937, and was the first baby born in Madison County that year. Her husband, James Strong, was a NASA analyst and deacon who was a valued member of Jackson Way Baptist Church. She attended Jackson Way until she could no longer leave her home. She was a strong woman, loving mother, and doting grandmother.
She is survived by her four daughters, Laura Townsend (Harold), Susan Barnett (Danny), Lynn Schmitz (Craig), and Kim Alford (Don), who were her primary caregivers. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She is predeceased by her husband, James Strong, her son, Joel, her parents, Sam and Ruby Loveday, her brothers, Howard and Gordon Loveday, and her sister, Lillian Reed.
Barbara Strong was an impressive woman who loved her family fiercely, honored God, and missed Mullin's hamburgers. Her greatest joys were the McCoy Family Reunion and her family's Christmas Eve celebration. She will be forever missed.
A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 21, located at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Alabama, at 11:00 AM.
