Betty Hulsey Obituary

Betty Ann Lawler Hulsey, 88, a lifelong resident of New Market, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Regency Health Care Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Born on October 8, 1937, Betty Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Jessie Mae Berry Lawler and Maurice Hunt Lawler. A proud graduate of Riverton High School, she dedicated her life to her family and community. Her warm presence and gentle spirit will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

Ann was a truly loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a pillar of service, volunteering with the American Red Cross for over 20 years. Her passions included reading, gardening, knitting, and her cherished dogs, Sparky and Lucy. A woman of faith and musical talent, she found joy in singing in the choir and serving with the "Senior Saints" at
Winchester Road Baptist Church.

Ann was preceded in death by her former husband, Charles Glen Hulsey, with whom she was married for 35 years. Though their paths diverged, they maintained a bond of genuine affection and respect until his passing.

Her memory will be cherished by her surviving children: son Brent Hulsey (Jennifer) of Carter, OK, daughters Shelia Steward (Buddy) of Athens, AL, Renona Seibert (Brad) of Decatur, AL, and Fonda Gaylord (Rand) of New Market, AL. Her memory will also be cherished by her 'favorite children', Rick, Randy, and Adam. She also leaves behind her sisters, Alice Lawler, Mary Drakey, and Shirley McCormick, all of Huntsville, AL. Her legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: Mikkel Martin (Nicole), Dan Seibert (Sara), and Lauren Peyton (Harry), as well as six beloved great-grandchildren.

A service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Winchester Road Baptist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-4.

In lieu of flowers, Ann's family kindly requests that donations be made to the Cloves Foundation at clovesfoundation.com, in support of her great-granddaughter Caroline's rare disease.

Betty Ann's kindness, warmth, and devotion to her family were evident to all. She created a loving home, and her impact on those around her will not be forgotten.

We want to thank the staff at Regency, Jalisa, Stacy, Kay, Rae from Affinity, and the many others for the kindness shown to mom. To her many friends and church family, a heartfelt thank you for all the acts of kindness shown to her and us.
