With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carol Ann (Jett) Deptula on May 11, 2026.
Carol was so proud of the fact that she was born and raised in Alaska. It is the type of place that breeds independent, strong, capable, and competitive folks, and Carol was no exception. From an early age she mastered a myriad of hobbies, including sewing. She’d make her own clothes and dream of becoming a fashion designer. Throughout her life she sewed, creating beautiful quilts, toys for her grandchildren, and doing the alterations on her daughter’s gowns. In later years she became an avid bowler and gardener, leaving many in awe of her luck/prowess (it was hard to be sure which was more at play).
Carol leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Chester. The two had a storybook relationship, knowing they were destined to be together and marrying after only three months. They were the very best of friends, sharing laughs and stories and providing one another with bountiful grace and compassion. They truly brought out the best in one another.
She was a fiercely protective and devoted mother and grandmother. When you belonged to her, you were hers completely. She was as aspirational as she was supportive. Her bond with her daughter, Jennifer, was as close as a mother and daughter could have. She carried immense love and pride for her sons, Jonathan, her oldest, and Joseph, her precious baby. She will live on in each of her children. At times, Carol was unable to find fault with her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren especially were always the best, fastest, most brilliant, and beautiful children on the field, in the pool, at school, or on the ice. The reckless abandon with which she endorsed her family will be deeply missed.
Carol was warm and generous with her friends, and that is where she most shared her silly, sassy side. We will miss her clear blue eyes, her feisty spirit, and her unwavering love. We are grateful for the life she lived and the lasting impact she made.
