Charlotte Michelle (Douglas) Tilley

Charlotte Michelle Tilley, age 81, of Huntsville, Alabama passed away Thursday, June 6, 2024, at home under hospice care.

Charlotte loved traveling. As a family, we traveled around Europe. She loved to travel to Africa and Australia (she stayed with some Aborigines), but Figi was her favorite. She loved watching Jeopardy, crossword puzzles, reading The New York Times, gardening, and the beach. She always had the sunroof down because she loved the sun and the wind flowing in her hair! She loved reading and would read a book a day. Charlotte's spirit of adventure was unmatched. She embarked on a thrilling journey to Africa with her best friend Jorja, camping in the wild and even being chased by an elephant. Her courage led her to capture a close-up picture of lions.

She worked as a tech writer at Intergraph and embarked on a memorable trip to Egypt with her colleague and one of her best friends, John Waller. They explored the ancient wonders and created lasting memories. She enjoyed attending operas and symphony performances. Every Saturday morning, she would listen to reggae. She loved shopping at the mall. In her final days, she listened to Willie Nelson. She cherished her family and her late husband, Homer Tilley.

She is survived by her two daughters, Charla Stokes, Becky Williams; son, William Tilley; nine grandchildren, Daphne, Vance, Sebastian, Ari, Nathan, Savannah, Borage, Caiden, and Ciara; best friend, Jorja Kelley, and numerous extended family and friends.

Services have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville.  The family will receive friends, Tuesday, June 11th from 11:00am until 12:45pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2110 Byrd Spring Rd.  A funeral service will follow in their Chapel at 1:00pm with Bishop William Grice officiating.  Interment will follow at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Meridianville, AL.
