Daniel Heffinger Obituary

Daniel Clark Heffinger, 66 of Poca, West Virginia, entered into eternal rest on July, 11th, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family after a hard fought battle with leukemia. Though his time on earth has come to a close, his legacy of faith, family, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was born in the hills of West Virginia on June 7, 1959. His roots ran deep in the values of hard work, simple living, and a deep connection to faith and family. Dan’s greatest pride was his family. He was the devoted husband to his soul mate, Loretta Heffinger, with whom he shared 9 wonderful years filled with laughter, love, and unwavering partnership. He was the proud father of his “perfect children,” Josh (Jessica) Heffinger, Bethany (Todd) McQuistion, and Katie Grass, and a stepfather to Jeremy Harrison. His kids held a special place in his heart.

His heart overflowed with joy for his 8 surviving grandchildren Avery, Harper, Benson, Brett, Addie, Aubrey, Brayden, and Kinsley. Each one brought him immeasurable happiness, and he treasured the moments he spent with them.

Dan is also survived by his father Buddy Whanger, brother David (Michelle) Whanger, and sister Donna Whanger, and, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins who will carry his memory with them always.

He was preceded in death by his precious granddaughter Riley, his mother Phyllis Wines, and his adopted parents John Heffinger and Jane Arthur. The thought of their joyful reunion in Heaven brings peace and hope to all who mourn.

Dan’s faith in the Lord was unshakable and deeply inspiring. His final days were spent boldly proclaiming the love of Jesus, sharing this truth with joy and urgency. He used the gifts he was given to glorify God and bless those around him.

Honoring Dan’s wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no public funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family invites you to make donations in Dan’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to Glory Baby Ministry.

Dan’s love was loud, his faith was strong, and his legacy is eternal. Though our hearts ache in his absence, we find comfort knowing he is home, healed, and held in the arms of his Savior.
