Debra Kaye (Gray) Bailey

Debra Kaye Bailey, age 75, of Hampton Cove, Alabama, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on June 27, 1950, in Huntsville, Alabama, she was the beloved daughter of James and Jean Gray. She grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and love that carried her through every stage of life. She graduated from the University of Alabama and was a devoted Crimson Tide fan—Roll Tide!

Debra met the love of her life, Rick Bailey, on his birthday in February. Just a few months later, on her own birthday in June, they were married. Together, they shared 47 years of devotion, laughter, and adventure, building a home and a family filled with love.

She was a devoted mother to two daughters, Erin and Shannon, whom she loved deeply, and a cherished grandmother to three grandchildren. To her family, she was the heart of every gathering—the one who made holidays magical, who brought comfort in times of struggle, and whose love never wavered.

Debra carried a quiet strength and grace that touched everyone who knew her. She lived by example, teaching kindness, integrity, and love through her actions. Whether offering encouragement, telling stories, or simply being present, she gave those around her a sense of peace and belonging.

She is survived by her husband, Rick Bailey; her daughter, Erin Hunt; and her grandchildren, Mackenzie Fitzgerald, Elliot Fitzgerald, and Cayden Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Jean Gray, and by her beloved daughter, Shannon Fitzgerald.

A service to honor her life will be held on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Spry Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. 

The family welcomes all who knew and loved her to join in celebrating her life.

Her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on forever in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
