Doris (Ryals) Jones

Doris Ryals Jones, 93, peacefully entered her Heavenly home on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Hospice Family Care.  Mrs. Jones was a resident of Huntsville since 1961.  She attended the University of Montevallo and received a BS degree from Auburn University in 1949. She later received a BS degree with certification in Elementary Education from UAH and taught at Chapman Elementary School from 1962-1985. She was a devout Christian and long-time faithful member and servant of East Huntsville Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for more than 60 years and was an active member of the AOM at her church. She loved her friends from the Aquatic Center Seniors swim group.

Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Robert R. Jones; her parents Eugene and Era Ryals of Andalusia, Alabama; her sisters and brother Veda Barrow, Benjamin Ryals, Margaret Lawrence, and Rebecca Stevenson. She is also predeceased by her daughters-in-law Susan Hightower Jones and Linda Darlene Jones.

Survivors include her children, Samuel Ryals Jones, Timothy Ray Jones, and Martha Jones Stanford (Cal). Her five grandchildren include Angela Cardone (Toby), Christy Fiorello (Chris), Casey Zintel (Sean), Leslie McNutt (Matt), and Drew Stanford (Barrett). She leaves six great grandchildren: Cade and Liam Cardone, Aiden and Riley Fiorello, and Calleigh and Colin Zintel.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5 at 11:00 am at East Huntsville Baptist Church with visitation one hour prior to the service. Spry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the EHBC AOM at 808 Maysville Road, Huntsville, 35811. We would like to acknowledge the staff of Heritage Assisted Living and Memory Care for its care, love, concern and friendship to the entire Jones family.  Our sincere appreciation also goes to Hospice Family Care of Redstone Village for its kindness and compassion.
