Dorothy Evelyn (Wall) Ennis

Dorothy Evelyn (Wall) Ennis, 101 years old, 3 months and 2 days, passed away on December 10th, 2024 after over 10 decades of a life beautifully lived.

Evelyn was born in Huntsville, AL (Huntsville Hospital) and raised in the community of Harvest, AL. Evelyn’s husband was the postmaster of Harvest Post office that was adjoining next to their family owned grocery store. She was a member of Harmony Baptist Church located in Toney, AL and also a lifelong member of the Harvest Homemakers Club.

Once Evelyn and her husband made the decision to sell their grocery store (owned for sixteen years) Evelyn went to work for the Huntsville Utilities where after 20 years of service she retired.

Evelyn is survived by her two sons Jimmy (Jim) Ennis of Huntsville and Robert “Larry” Ennis of Harvest, AL, who was her primary caregiver. Evelyn is also survived by one sister Marion Patricia “Robbie” Hallisey, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren all which called her EBBY.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert Marion Wall and Ruby Cobb Wall Nelson along with a sister Edith “Lorane” Wall.

Evelyn overcame major health issues consisting of (brain surgery, aneurysm and cancer). She enjoyed gardening, yardwork and cutting her lawn well into her years of 80 plus years with her John Deere riding mower.
