Dorothy "Dot" Mae (Moore) Gwathney

Dorothy (Dot) Moore Gwathney, 89, of Huntsville, was born on January 10, 1932 to Arthur and Annie Moore, and passed away on August 24, 2021.  She was surrounded by her loving family as she met her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Dot was a member of Jackson Way Baptist Church for over 70 years. She loved her family and dedicated her life to making a loving and happy home for them to enjoy. She especially loved her granddaughter Kandon, who she called “my sunshine.”

Survivors include her son, James “Ed” Gwathney; her daughter and son-in-law, Lynda and Don Neal; her granddaughter and husband, Kandon and Jesse Garcia; and her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Jim Wood.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that were special to her.

Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Percy E Gwathney, Jr, her parents; her brothers; James, Harold, and John Moore; and her sister, Doris Butler.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 30, from 1 to 2 pm at Spry Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 pm at Maple Hill Cemetery.
