Edward (Eddie) Lee Sewell was born on February 6, 1942, in Tompkinsville, KY to Vincent S. Sewell and Mary Elaine Sewell (Brown). He graduated from Tompkinsville High School on the 12th day of May in 1962. He moved to Chicago, Illinois to find gainful employment at Roden Plastic Plant where he worked his way up to supervisor. He then moved to Huntsville, Alabama to work at Automatic Electric in 1968. He worked at Automatic Electric until it was taken over by G.T.E. and he stayed on to work for them until around 1985 when he went to work for Eaton until he retired in the late 90s. He was a machine setter for plastic molding machines. He received certificates from Wallace State College for completing courses in Metrology and Statistical Process Control I.
He moved to New Hope, Alabama in 2004 where he has lived the past 20 years making many lasting friendships in the community. His retirement years were full of fellowship with his friends, planning, planting, and harvesting his garden, and watching any kind of sport he could find on TV. He particularly loved watching tennis and Alabama football. He enjoyed getting together with family and was always the first to arrive and the first to leave.
He was proceeded in death by both his parents, his two sons, Mark and John Sewell, and his older brother Billy Sewell. He is survived by his daughters Amy Crabtree and Della O’Riley (Tim), the daughter of his third wife Nikki Taylor (Jeremy) who he helped raise and is still considered family, his grandchildren Elizabeth Franklin (Walter), Joseph Case (Laura), Nathan Mullins, Katelin O’Riley, Blake Parker and Harley Taylor. His great-grandchildren Savanah Wiser, Tripp Case, and Nova Bryant. Brothers Jackie Sewell (Bonnie) and Jerry Sewell. Sisters Betty Sewell Kemp (Tom) and Sharlean Sewell. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He was a born again Christian and faithfully attended Cornerstone Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten. We take comfort knowing that he is with his boys and all that have gone on before him who believed and followed Jesus Christ. We look forward to seeing him again.
