Edna Lucille (Hunt) Anderson

Edna Lucille Hunt Anderson, beloved wife of the late Charles Hugh Anderson, passed away at her home in Huntsville, AL on September 6, 2020 at the age of 99, just a few weeks short of her 100th birthday. Edna is survived by her children: Gail Severson of Pittsfield, MA; Sue Hughey of Stone Mountain, GA; Carole Anderson of Huntsville, AL; and Charles Anderson of Hamilton, OH. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, an amazing legacy!

Edna was born in Troy, AL on October 1, 1920, the daughter of Lucille and Louis Hunt. She has been a resident of Huntsville, AL for over 60 years. Edna taught kindergarten at Madison Academy for many years and was a favorite among her students. After she retired from teaching, she became involved with the Red Cross and volunteered for them at Huntsville Hospital in the pediatric emergency room for over 30 years, a position that she loved as much as she was beloved by the lives she touched there. Edna was also active in her community in areas such as Community Development and Neighborhood Watch and was an award-winning quilter. She was also involved with the senior center and loved to line dance with her friends there. She is a faithful Christian and attendee of worship with the saints at most recently Mayfair Church of Christ as well as Lincoln Church of Christ where her husband served as elder prior to his passing in 1991. Edna was the larger than life matriarch of her family and cherished by every one of them in ways words cannot describe. She was the strong thread of our family quilt and she will be incredibly missed. Her family celebrates her life and is comforted by the knowledge that she rests in peace in the arms of her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. She touched so many lives and we know that all who knew her share this sentiment. 

There will be a graveside service at Huntsville Memory Gardens Cemetery at 1:00 PM on Thursday September 10, 2020 officiated by brother Gary Bradley of Mayfair church of Christ.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the Huntsville chapter of the American Red Cross or Madison Academy in Edna’s name.
