Elizabeth (Bishop) Lones

Elizabeth Lones, 98, of Huntsville, AL, passed away at her home on January 5, 2025.  She was born on August 5, 1926.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford “AC” Lones; her parents, Hezzie and Ola Bishop; her sister, Christine Lones; her daughter, Judy Lones Roland; and her son-in-law, Gene Roland. 

She is survived by her sister, Joyce Beckman; her daughters, Brenda (Mike) Elkins and Earline (Don) Ward; grandchildren: Chris (Erin) Elkins, Kelly Roland, Stephen (Tiffany) Ward, Tracie Roland, and step-granddaughter, Christine Holmes; her great-grandchildren: Eli Ward, Elizabeth Pope, Harlow Elkins, and Iris Elkins; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Elizabeth loved the Lord and focused on making sure her life was right with Him. She was an amazing cook who lovingly prepared many meals for her family and friends throughout her life.  From making dolls to dresses to aprons, she enjoyed sewing and working with her hands. She appreciated beautiful plants and flowers, as well as eating homegrown vegetables from her own garden.  She was a gentle spirit who had many wonderful years with her beloved Pomeranian, Precious.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and was lovingly called Mama, Aunt Midge, and Nanny by those closest to her. 

Elizabeth’s influence will live on in the lives of those who knew and loved her.  A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville, AL on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Stephen Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be: Chris Elkins, Eli Ward, Chad Pope, Blake Stanley, and Tommy Elkins. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
