Elizabeth Rogers Medlen, 94, of Huntsville peacefully passed into the presence of Jesus on September 11, 2024, after a long and full life. She will be missed for her smile, warm spirit and willingness to help anyone.
Elizabeth was born on September 3, 1930, to Arnie and Rebecca Rogers (both deceased). She was one of thirteen girls, four of whom passed away before the age of two. All of her sisters have since predeceased her. Elizabeth married Walto Don Medlen (deceased) on August 19, 1948, and had one daughter, Linda Rebecca (Mathias).
Elizabeth worked for Bell South and AT&T, retiring as a Traffic Control Supervisor after 37 years of faithful service. She was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America for many years, making numerous friends, traveling extensively at home and abroad and volunteering. Of her various volunteer activities, Elizabeth especially enjoyed working with the Special Olympics.
Elizabeth was always thinking of others and often could be found helping out a family member or friend. Over the years, she served in many capacities at church, with a special emphasis on missions. Elizabeth was a member of Woodland Hill Baptist Church and a previous member of Northside Baptist Church.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Linda, of Chesapeake, Virginia; her grandson Scott Mathias and his wife Tiffany of Manassas, Virginia; and her grandson Greg Mathias and his wife Page of New Orleans, Louisiana; as well as nine great-grandchildren—five boys born to Scott and his wife (Peter, Christopher, Nathaniel, Nicholas and Anthony) and four girls born to Greg and his wife (Jordan, Chloe, Caroline and Hadley). She also had many nieces and nephews whom she cherished and wants to especially thank all the Loveless family and Patricia Lanford for their unending love and support.
