Elizabeth Palmer Obituary

Elizabeth Kathleen Palmer (Kathy), a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, left behind her worldly struggles on Sunday, March 1 surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was raised by two wonderful parents, Jim and Sarah Hunter, with two great siblings Ann Howard and Steven Hunter.  In her younger years, Kathy pursued her love of art, but ultimately found her true love, her husband John Martin Palmer.  They spent close to 56 years together.  She always described her husband as the most loving and caring person she had ever met.  She stated that she was blessed to have found him.   John and Kathy’s love grew to include their seven beautiful children: John Martin Palmer Jr., Theresa Michelle Nunez, Dawn Elizabeth Rodgers, Mary Elisha Gross, Patrick Theodore Palmer, James Robinson Palmer, and Anthony Noel Palmer.

One of her fondest memories was getting to “eat her way across Europe.”  She always counted herself so lucky, because she got to experience part of the world with her precious family.  She loved the time she spent in Germany and enjoyed visiting all the churches.  Her favorite hobby was the time she spent country western dancing with her husband and friends.  Nothing meant more to Kathy than her family.  Anyone who knew her would say that her main priorities in her life were her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she became known as Nana.

She was blessed to have fourteen grandchildren that became some of the greatest joys in her life: Christine Shull, John Palmer III, James Palmer, Juston Stanford, Chase Stanford, Aaron Stanford, Morgan Stanford, Bailey Rodgers, Riley Rodgers, Palmer Gross, Sydney Gross, Caden Palmer, Michaela Palmer, and Gabriel Palmer.  She dedicated all the time she could to helping raise and support ‘her babies’.  She also counted herself blessed to get to know 4 great-grandchildren: Amelia Stanford, Isabella Stanford, Mable Stanford, and Jacob Shull.  Most of her babies’ birthdays and the  holidays were celebrated at her house, because she wanted to spend as much as possible with the enter family.  She loved them more than anything else in this world, but she did have other loves.

Throughout her life, Kathy loved mystery stories like Nancy Drew.  If someone asked what book they should read, she would never hesitate. It was always going to be Nancy Drew, even though the school system told her that it was not considered “Literature.”  Her favorite musician was Elvis.  She often told the story of when she spotted Elvis at a skating rink.  Unfortunately for her, none of her friends believed her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her Mother, Sarah Hunter, her father, James Hunter, her stepmother Vergie Hunter, her brother, Steven Hunter, and her precious baby, Anthony Palmer.

We pray that she is at peace in heaven with God and all those that have passed on before her!
