Ewell Roger Heatherly

Mr. Ewell Roger Heatherly age 88 of Huntsville Passed away on Saturday February 15, 2020. He was an avid supporter of Tennessee Technological University where he received his bachelor's degree in engineering. He went on to receive his master's degree at the University of Alabama. He enjoyed camping, traveling and farming. He was especially grateful to go on two mission trips with other FBC members. One to Alaska and one to Mali, Africa. After graduating from TN Tech he worked briefly for TVA in Knoxville, TN. In 1954 he moved to Huntsville to work for the Army Ballistic Missile Defense Agency. In 1958 he moved to Orlando to work for the Martin Company.  While he was there he met Frances at the First Baptist Church of Orlando.  She had just moved there the same week to  teach.  They were married on Jan 9, 1960.  They returned to Huntsville in 1962, where Mr. Heatherly went to work for NASA.  He then worked for the Army until retirement   He is survived by his wife of many years Frances Heatherly. His son; Stanford Ewell Heatherly (Retchie), and His daughter; Letitia      Attanassio (Paul). Grandchildren; Miles Austin Callis, Finn Heatherly, and Elizabeth Heatherly. Mr. Heatherly was preceded in death by his sisters; Juanita Conatser and Thelma Fox. The family will    receive friends on Saturday February 22, 2020 from 11AM to 12 noon with services to follow at 12 noon. Visitation and services will be held at First Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Alabama Children's Homes or to the Children's Renovation Fund at First Baptist of Huntsville.
