It is with gratitude that we celebrate the life of Gerald Duke McCoy, who passed away on August 16, 2025 at the age of 84. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Duke’s life was marked by purpose, love, and unwavering faith.
A proud Navy Veteran and a dedicated Mason, Duke lived a life of service—to his country, his community, and his fellow man. He spent over 30 years in the steel industry as a respected supervisor and served as mayor of Ambridge, PA, leaving a lasting community impact.
A man of deep faith, he was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Ambridge, PA and First Baptist Church in Gurley, AL, where his integrity, kindness, and commitment to Christ touched all who knew him. Duke was also known for his passion for bodybuilding, a pursuit that reflected his discipline and determination. Whether lifting weights or lifting others through encouragement, he was a man who always strove to be the best version of himself.
Duke was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Janice McCoy. In his later years, he was blessed to reunite with his high school sweetheart, Carole McCoy, with whom he shared many cherished moments and enjoyed the warmth and joy that came with their reunion.
He is survived by his children: Joyce, Darlene “Dee,” Billy, and Sue; his stepchildren, including Kathy, Arlene, Pete, Lisa, Bonnie, Russell, and Nathan; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a large circle of family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and strength.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Spry Funeral Home of Huntsville. Duke will lie-in-state Friday 10:30 until 11:45 at First Baptist Church in Gurley. A service will follow at noon with Reverend Shane Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow at Hampton Cove Cemetery.
