Gerry Rickels Vaughan left us on April 15, 2023, at the age of 92 years. She lived at Redstone Village Assisted Living in Huntsville, Alabama for the past four years. She was a member of the Mayfair Church of Christ.
Born in Mississippi, Gerry had three siblings, including her brother John who died in combat in Vietnam. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Lester Arnell Vaughan in 2018, and daughters Sandy Vaughan Welford and Cheryl Vaughan.
She is survived by her son, David Vaughan, of Puerto Viejo, Limon, Costa Rica, and daughter, Kathy Linebaugh of Huntsville, Alabama; granddaughters Lisa Welford Peterson, Karen Welford
Segars, Nicole Linebaugh Kondracki; grandsons Mike Welford and Paul Linebaugh; and five great-grandchildren.
Gerry and Lester were active members of the churches of Christ wherever they lived, including Panama (two years), Berlin, Germany (ten years), and the United Kingdom (three years) during Lester’s civil service career. They loved entertaining and were very hospitable. They also loved traveling and were active members of the Sojourners Mission of the churches of Christ, traveling around the U.S. in their RV to serve the Lord in evangelism for thirteen years.
Gerry was loved by many around the globe and will be sorely missed.
