Harold Mack “Pappy” Smyly of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on December 12, 2025.
He was born in Linden, Marengo County, Alabama on January 23, 1935 to Marvin Anison Smyly and Zona Ruth Tannehill. Worked and retired from NASA as a Propulsion Engineer for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce Kathleen Bowman Smyly, daughters Sabrina Hearne (Doug), Cynthia Strong (Steve) and Xina Crawford (Paul). He has 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, siblings, Peyton, David, Danny, Kathy and Jeffrey.
Graveside service was held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Maple Hill Cemetery.
