James Leo Drake

James Leo Drake, 90, passed away on June 15, 2025, surrounded by family. He was born to Ernest and Gladys (Casey) Drake on July 6, 1934, in Huntsville, AL. Mr. Drake was a loving husband to Louise Kilpatrick Drake for 35 years before her passing in 1990. Leo most enjoyed going to church and has worshipped at Weatherly Heights, Jordan Park, and Chapman Acres Churches of Christ. He could always be found sitting on his front porch swing or glider every minute he could. And of course, watching his beloved Alabama football.

He is survived by his sister Barbara Conner (Wayne); his daughters Teresa Barnett and Lisa Messer (Jerry); grandsons Brad Barnett (Bridget), Jim Barnett (Kim), and Blake Messer (Susan); five great-grandchildren, Leah Barnett, Beau Barnett, Stella Humphres, Remy Barnett, and Lottie Messer; nephew Michael Conner (Camille) and niece Kristie Conner.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00, with the service at 11:00.
Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.
