James Burnett Hill, 84, of Laceys Spring, Alabama, passed away on May 7, 2025.
A dedicated scholar and servant, James earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from The Citadel and a Master of Science degree in Physics from Clemson University. He pursued further doctoral studies in physics at Ohio University. His professional career began with the U.S. government at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and concluded at Redstone Arsenal, where he supported the warfighter through his contributions in the development and deployment of the Multiple Launch Rocket System.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was deeply committed to missionary work. Alongside his beloved wife, Betty, he made numerous trips to Russia and Ukraine, sharing their faith and compassion with many. The couple was married for 59 years before Betty’s passing in 2023.
James is survived by his three sons, Greg, Paul, and John, their spouses, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He loved his wife, sons and their families. He will be missed by all.
In accordance with his family’s wishes, no public service will be held. A private memorial will be planned to honor his life and legacy.
