James Edward Medley

James Edward Medley, 86, of Huntsville, AL, passed away October 20, 2023. He was born on September 8, 1937 in Madison County, Alabama, where he would also go on to live most of his life. 

James served two tours for the National Guard and Army Reserve. He had faith in Jehovah God and all the promises God has made to us. He would spend many hours studying- to the point he couldn't see his bible anymore. He lived life to the fullest and always had a story to tell, which he enjoyed sharing with anyone who would listen. 

He has left behind a large family, some blood, some not, either way he loved them all the same.

He is survived by two children, Wanda Smith and Donald Medley (Linda- deceased); Brother, William (Bill) Medley (Sandra); Sister-in-law, Mary Jewel Medley (Leon); one niece, Melissa Medley (Bill); one nephew, Mike Medley (Leon); David Willbanks, Ricky Allen (Michelle- deceased), Grandchildren, Chase Medley (Allysa), Robert Smith (Teresa), Crystal Lawson (Gordon), Robbie Allen (Chasta), Jamie Allen (Lexie), Brittany Smith, Tommy Parker, Abby Bell, Kayla Bell, Collier Bell, Briana Seals (Josh), Shawn Chapman, Patricia Jenkins (Mike), Joy Allen, Whittney Lau, Arther R. Smith Jr. (Brenda), Summer Allen Haff (Josh), and Amber Allen Grissett (John); twenty-six great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by wife, Rachel Medley; son, Tommy Medley; grandson, Marcus K.S. Smith; blood brother, Lloyd A. Johnson Sr.; niece, Mary E. Medley; daughter-in-law Linda Baeder Medley; two brothers, Leon and Robert Medley; sister-in-law, Sandra Medley; and nephew, W. Allen Medley.

A memorial service will be held at Spry Funeral Home in Huntsville on Monday, October 30th, starting at 1:00pm with Mike Nicholas officiating.
